Mont and Shannon Weniger – October Update

by

Hello from fall in Indiana,

Lately, we’ve been studying about being made in the image of God (Gen 1:26-27). During this season of conversations about politics and social change, we’re struck by the dignity and honor God bestowed on each person by creating us in His image. Look at the kindness and compassion of Christ, for example, in Luke 4:18. Jesus said, “The Spirit of the Lord is on Me, because He has anointed Me to preach good news to the poor. He has sent Me to proclaim freedom to the captives and recovery of sight to the blind, to set free the oppressed.” What a privilege to be a representative of Christ at a time such as this.

With the challenges of 2020 have come unique ministry opportunities, such as showing the love of Christ in fire ravaged communities by providing practical needs and the hope of the gospel; connecting with those isolated due to Covid; and offering encouragement, hope and kindness in every conversation. Thank you for your ministry.

We’ve seen that “the harvest is plenty, but the workers are few” (Luke 10:2), especially now with the effects of Covid seen on the mission field. Thank you for your prayers and support for us as we discerned what our role is. We are happy to tell you that we’ve been officially accepted to join a stateside recruitment team! Our role will be to recruit support workers (managers, professionals, trades workers, etc). These are people who provide the logistical footing and tools so that Bible translators can efficiently focus on their vital work.

Before we can start working with this recruiting team, we are required by Wycliffe to have 100% of our stateside budget. We need to raise about $1300 per month. Can you help? Please consider joining our team or adding to your present partnership. If you have mission-minded friends, would you connect us with them? We are open for Zoom, Skype, and other virtual connections, as well as phone calls and email. Our donation and contact information is below.

We are getting settled in Indiana, just down the street from Zach & Hannah L. We are centrally located for recruitment and care for family. Zach started his DNR (Doctorate of Nurse Practitioner) program, is currently teaching two classes a week, and working as an ER nurse twice a week. Hannah L. continues work once a week and is busy with 8-month-old son Theo. We help fill the gap in their busy life with day-care needs and other practical ways when we can. Hannah M. is thriving as a freshman at Bethel University in Mishawaka. She is not sure on a major, but has already been placed in advanced writing classes. She’s also part of an extra curricular honors group and is acting in “Twelfth Night” in November.

Serving Christ,
