Sara & Josh – March Update

Sara & Josh - March Update
by

Can someone please tell me what happened to February?? Here we are in March, and with a full calendar ahead, let’s look back on some highlights!

Challenge hosted some fun and meaningful connection events including a women’s gathering and a man night. Both events focused on deepening our conversations about spiritually challenging topics~ and, of course, good food and time spent together!

Weekly Challenge on-campus meetings have seen an encouraging number of new students and friends-of-regulars coming to learn about and discuss the topic “Can I trust the Bible?” We explored questions such as…isn’t the Bible just written by men? Doesn’t modern science and history make the Bible obsolete? How was the Bible canonized?

This week Josh is kicking off the new series called “What’s God like?”.

I’ve personally really enjoyed our new weekly morning prayer time and several students have become AM-prayer regulars. Gives me joy-filled flashbacks to a packed living room in my Corvallis apartment with SubU friends, and also to morning prayer with my overseas international fellowship.

Exciting development…we are preparing a group of 6 students for our annual East Asia trip. Four students went last year and two are newbies. Pray with us as we send out support letters next week.

You can partner with us here.

Along with ministry, Josh and I have been adjusting to and enjoying seminary. Our classes are interesting and relevant to our own spiritual formation and ministry. Looking ahead, I think the month of April will be quite a test of time management between normal ministry, Spring break mission trip, preparing for Asia, seasonal celebrations, planning end of semester events…and writing final papers. (I’m trying not to freak out too far in advance.) One very good outcome of this season is that we’ve been more motivated to equip and empower students in youth group and in Challenge to take more leadership and initiative. This is good for their growth, and good for us as leaders.

Thanks for reading and for praying!

Love,
Sara and Josh
